Appropriate Assessment

Wherever there is a concern that development could affect a designated habitat then an ‘Appropriate Assessment’ (AA) is carried out. This involves a systematic ecological assessment of whether development activities could affect the integrity of sites – or their sustaining resources.

Our long experience of both the construction sector and ecological processes has provided us with the opportunities to become early and influential practitioners in this field.

We provide full or partial advice and support for all aspects of Appropriate Assessment

  • Screening Reports (Stage One AA) – that determine the need for AA
  • Scoping Reports – that determine the issues to be addressed
  • Ecological Assessments (Stage Two AA) – we carry out and supervise commissioned field work to provide evidence to support assessments
  • Stakeholder Consultation – we arrange and attend meetings with statutory authorities – and NGOs if required – at all stages of project development and assessment.
